The National Food Security Act, 2013 (also the Right to Food Act) is an Act of the Parliament of India, which aims to provide subsidized food grains to about two-thirds of India's 1.2 billion people. It was signed into law on 12 September 2013, a retrospective on 5 July 2013.

The National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA 2013) is converted into legal rights for existing food security programs of the Government of India. This includes Mid-Day Meal Scheme, Integrated Child Development Services Scheme and Public Distribution System. In addition, NFSA 2013 recognizes maternity rights. The Mid-Day Meal Scheme and the Integrated Child Development Services Scheme are universal in nature, while the PDS will reach nearly two-thirds of the population (75% in rural areas and 50% in urban areas).

Under the provisions of the Bill, the beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (or, PDS) are entitled to 5 kilograms (11 pounds) per person of grain per month at the following prices:

Rice kg 3 (4.2 US) per kg

Wheat eat 2 (2.8 US) per kg

Coarse grains (millet) se 1 (1.4 US) per kilogram.

Some categories of pregnant women, lactating mothers and children are eligible for daily free grains.

The bill has been highly controversial. It was introduced in the Parliament of India on 22 December 2011, announced as a presidential ordinance on 5 July 2013 and enacted into law on 12 September 2013.
